Rabbit Oryctolagus cuniculus
This species is occasionally observed on the Kinson Common. Looking at old records for the site, there is evidence to suggest that they once bred in numbers here.
The appearance of this species, with its familiar brown fur and long floppy ears is known to everyone.
Rabbits live in burrows. In these burrows, litters are produced from about January to June. It is believed that rabbits seen on the Kinson Common in recent years were released there by Man.
Food. Grasses and natural vegetation.
Signs. Distinctive droppings where they graze on open ground.
