Araneus quadratus

This very abundant spider can be observed in Poole lane Meadows, the boglands and in Gover`s Glade and Dragonfly Hollow. In appearance, it closely resembles the Common Garden spider. In September, as Autumn approaches, its webs can easily be observed. When absent from its well spun web, be assured it is hiding behind a flower head waiting to pounce upon any unsuspecting small insect caught in its web!
