Rose Chafer Cetonia aurata
This beautiful bright green glossy flying beetle can be found in all areas of the Common. It loves to visit flowers and even settles on creeping thistle growing near Pepin`s Pond.
Although it is said to damage roses, its presence on the Common is to be welcomed , creating much local interest when it is observed during the Summer. Some specimens often display a copper coloured underside. If disturbed, it flies away at a very rapid pace.
