Green Lacewing
Chrysopa septempunctata

This species of lacewing flies late spring and late summer on the Kinson Common. It prefers wooded areas and hedgerows. Females lay greenish-yellow eggs on the undersides of leaves. Later hatching broods will overwinter as larvae in silken cocoons and complete their progress into the adult stage next spring. This photograph was taken in late august and the subject is resting on an oak leaf.
