Small numbers are resident on the Common throughout the year. The male has brown and white plumage, with a black head and bib and a white collar. The female is more lightly marked with plainer brown and lacks the head colouration of the male.
Haunt. Dragonfly Hollow and especially Central Bog. It also visits other areas close to those named.
Nest. Among reeds and marsh vegetation. It is made from all types of grasses and hairs.
Eggs. 3-6 are laid from April to July. The eggs are sometimes a purplish or darker-brown, with bold streaks and spots nearly black marked.
Food. Insects and seeds.
Notes. A short and very stuttered song.
