It is a welcomed winter visitor to the Common and moves around the Kinson area in good sized flocks. In appearance it looks like a song thrush but closer observation will reveal its red markings and a light stripe over the eye. Many are victims of the sparrowhawk locally.
Haunt. Open country around Two Barrow Heath and particularly the Poole Lane Meadows where it gathers on the ground during the harsher weather. It does not stay in one location for long.
Food. Berries, worms insects and grubs.
Notes. These range from a "took" to a "seep". Its full song is only heard occasionally.
