Mealy Redpoll
Carduelis flammea

This species visits the Kinson Common from the Continent only during the  winter  period. It is often  in  the  company of siskins and goldfinches.
 
In appearance it resembles a linnet. Its plumage is streaked-brown.
Adult birds have a red forehead and a small black chin.
 
Haunt.   Anywhere where  birches grow. A good place to
             observe them is around the Central Bog
               region.
 
Food. birch seed, weed seeads, willow and conifer
             seeds.
 

Notes.   Sometimes a continuous twittering.
