This species is usually observed on the Kinson Common during the autumn and winter periods. Two Barrow Heath and especially Poole Lane Meadows are often its chosen haunts. It is a slim and rather slight little brown and buff looking bird. Being a member of the Wagtail family, it is fast and nimble and tends to run and walk quickly when looking for food at ground level. Haunt. Heathland and open fields on the Kinson Common. Nest. Well hidden on the ground. It is constructed using dried grass and the interior is lined with wool or hair. Eggs. 4-6 are laid between April and June. The eggs are covered with greyish-brown or chocolate coloured speckles. Food. Chiefly insects and sometimes seeds of weeds. Notes. When alarmed it utters "peep peep peep". The song is a repetitive "peep peep". It is also utters other notes.
