Jackdaws can be seen on the Kinson Common and also visit local gardens to feed throughout the year. Although they are smaller than other crows, they are very noisy birds and do love to collect bright objects which they will fly off with. Their plumage is black and on the back of their head and neck, grey colouring will be seen.
Haunt. Anywhere on the Common, especially those places which are close to houses.
Nest. Often in a tree or a hidden place which is easy to enter.
Eggs. 3-6 are laid in April, depending on the waether conditions. The eggs are bluish with dark brown spots.
Food. Insects, the eggs of other wild birds, mice, fruit and seed and scarps of food and other goodies put out on bird tables.
Notes. "Clack" or "jack". If it is disturbed or surprised, the call note is "Caw".
