The Blue Tit is known by everyone. It is always full of energy and it is a wonderful acrobat. Its plumage is primrose-yellow on the underside and a greyish-blue and green above. The head is blue and white.
Haunt. As well as being seen on the Kinson Common, it is a very regular visit to bird tables in local gardens.
Nest. In holes everywhere, also bird boxes. The nest is made from all sorts of materials including moss, wool and feathers.
Eggs. Up to 8 or more eggs are laid in either April or May, depending on the weather conditions. The tiny white eggs are spotted with light red colouring.
Food. Mainly insects and it is a friend to local gardener`s by keeping down pests such as greenfly and aphids. It will visit bird tables if fat, scraps and nuts are put out for it.
Notes. "Tsee, tsee, ch-ch-ch-ch-ch", "si-si-si" and more. Its song consists or two or more high notes and a trilling sound.
