The Grey wagtail is a regular visitor to Pepin`s Pond and can be seen throughout the year. It has a sulphur-yellow breast and a slate-blue back and a black throat which becomes white in the winter. Females are marked a paler gret and do not have a black throat.
Haunt. Everywhere on the Common where water occurs.
Nest. In holes near water, even walls and rocks. The nest is made from roots, grass and all types of hair.
Eggs. 4-6 are laid between April and June. White, covered in speckles and browner than the Pied Wagtail`s.
Food. All kinds of insects, especially flies.
Notes. A silvery-toned "te-seep". The full song is musical and clear.
