The blackbird is well known to everyone and is resident locally throughout the year. The male`s plumage is bold black and he has a yellow beak. Females and young birds are dark brown.
Haunt. Everywhere in Kinson.
Nest. In a bush or low covered area. The nest is made from grass, roots and mud and is lined with softer grasses.
Eggs. 4-6 are laid and the breeding season runs from March to July. The eggs are greenish-blue and speckled with browns.
Food. Worms, grubs, insects , snails and fruit. Visits gardens to feed.
Notes. When startled, blackbirds make a loud clattering cry. They also make continuous "pink, pink" sounds. The actual song of the blackbird is a rich, sweet whistle, which some people believe to be more beautiful that the tune sung by the Nightingale.
